Report: Moldova not to make tradeoffs for cheap Russian gas
CHISINAU, Aug 5 (PRIME) -- Moldova is fighting for energy independence and is not ready for concessions for cheap Russian gas, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu told channel Jurnal TV on Friday.
"Do you think if we go to Moscow 10 times, the situation will change?.. The situation will change if there are requirements. I am asking the viewers -- are they ready for tradeoffs? Now is the real war for independence," Spinu said.
On Thursday, Moldovan gas distribution company Moldovagaz asked Russian gas giant Gazprom to delay its payment for August as the country’s new tariff does not cover the cost of gas purchase and transportation.
